There is a lot of strain that is put on an air conditioning system during the summer months. It is no wonder this is the time that they normally break down. The good news is that there are a few different things that can be taken care of in the spring to prepare your system for the long summer ahead, because nobody should have to endure temperatures in the high 80's in their own home. So, here are just a few tips on how to keep your air conditioning system up and running at a high level even during the hottest summer months.

Compressor

Usually your air compressor unit is on the outside of your home and because of this it is usually forgotten about completely. You want to inspect the air compressor and ensure that there are no grasses, bushes, or shrubs that are growing even close to the compressor. If there are, you need to cut them down as quickly as possible. The most important thing that you can do is to level the compressor if it is out of level. The coolant that travels through the coils of the compressor needs to flow properly, and if it is out of level then it will not flow right.

Air Ducts

Many people do not realize how much dust and debris can settle in the air ducts of your home. There can be so much dust that it can actually cut off the passage of air to one area of the home. Not only is the dust bad for your air conditioning system, it can in fact cause malfunctions, but it is bad for your health. The dust, mold, and other debris in the air ducts system can cause a lot of upper respiratory system infections and other problems.

Technician

As a homeowner it is easy to perform some of the routine maintenance, but it can be extremely beneficial if a technician comes to look at your system once a year during the spring. If a technician comes to your home and inspects the system before the summer, he or she may catch a small problem that could escalate into a major problem. The little money spent on preventative maintenance could be the difference between a successful summer and a summer that is spent sweating in your own home. Be careful with your system, but do not be afraid to call in the technician.

After a thorough analysis, we discovered that there were some serious fan problems.
